RSVP - Houston Training Center

Environment Texas, in conjunction with the Public Interest Network, is organizing a free activist workshop on Saturday, Feb. 6, in Houston. Show up ready for action: We'll spend the day moving between large group overviews and small groups to give people an opportunity to learn and internalize skills.

The workshop will take place at Texas Southern University, in the Sterling Student Center, Room 207. Parking is available in lot S-1 off of Blodgett Street.

We will focus on skills passionate activists need to know.

Here's the tentative agenda:

11:00 - 11:15 Welcome/Introductions

11:15 - 11:30 Overview of working with the media

11:30 - 12:15 Small groups: Planning a news conference

12:15 - 12:30 Overview of pitching reports

12:30 - 1:00 Small groups: Pitching reports

1:00 - 1:15 Break, meet fellow area activists

1:15 - 1:30 Overview of volunteer recruitment

1:30 - 2:15 Small groups: Volunteer outreach

2:15 - 2:30 Wrap-up

The trainers will be experienced staff from Environment Texas and the Public Interest Network. It's a chance to meet some of the people behind the e-mail addresses. This event is open to the public, so feel free to spread the word to other activists (and potential activists)!

If you're interested in attending, please RSVP by filling in the form to the right.

After you RSVP, training facilitator Naomi Roth will be in touch with directions and more details about the training.
