Letter * Dear Gov. Perry (cc: Public Utility Commission of Texas), Texas has what it takes to be the national leader in solar power. We have the most solar radiation in the country, are home to the world's largest supplier of solar-grade silicon, and are innovators in the high-tech industry. But Texas hasn't capitalized on our natural advantages and, as a result, incentive programs offered by other states are luring solar manufacturers away. The absence of rebates also means solar remains out of reach for most Texans. You have the opportunity to change that. This spring, the Public Utility Commission of Texas will consider two rules to promote solar power and energy efficiency. I urge you to boldly put Texas on the solar map and support policies to develop 1,000 megawatts of solar power by 2015. Your leadership helped make Texas the national leader in wind power.
