The city of Bryan's municipally owned utility has become the third Texas utility to offer rebates for the purchase and installation of solar panels.

According to the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association, "on February 11, the board of Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) approved rebates for both PV and solar water heating installations. According to Paul Hora, Key Accounts Mgr. for BTU, the PV incentive will be in the form of a rebate in the amount of $4 an AC Watt installed for up to 3kW (a maximum of $12,000 per customer per year) for pre-approved systems. The rebate for solar water heating systems is set at $1,500 for retrofits and $1,000 for new construction".

Austin Energy and San Antonio's CPS Energy already offer rebates for solar PV and solar hot water systems.
