Training Center

Following our tradition of training local activists to take action and address pressing issues affecting our world, Environment Texas, in conjunction with the Public Interest Network, is organizing a Free Activist Workshop in both Austin and Houston. The dates and times of the events are:

Austin event: Friday, Feb. 5, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Houston event: Saturday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Show up ready for action. We will spend the day moving between large group overviews and small groups, to give people an opportunity to learn and internalize skills.

We will focus on skills passionate activists need to know.

Here's the tentative agenda:

Welcome/introductions
Overview of working with the media
Small groups: Planning a news conference
Overview of pitching reports
Small groups: Pitching reports
Break, meet fellow area activists
Overview of volunteer recruitment
Small groups: Volunteer outreach
Wrap-up

The trainers will be experienced staff from Environment Texas and the Public Interest Network. It's a chance to meet some of the people behind the e-mail addresses. This event is open to the public, so feel free to spread the word to other activists (and potential ones)!
