A small group of demonstrators protested outside of Texas Senator John Cornyn’s Austin office Tuesday afternoon to get him to change his stance on a soon to expire wind production tax credit.
The protestors say if the tax credit is not renewed by congress as many as 37,000 wind industry jobs could be at risk.
In addition to the protest, the Texas League of Conservation Voters delivered 2,000 letters to the Senator’s office and a petition with 20,000 signatures to support the tax credit.
"Wind energy in Texas has been a true success story, creating jobs, saving water and reducing pollution," said Luke Metzger, Director of Environment Texas. "If Congress doesn't renew this tax credit, they'll take the wind out of the sails of a proven job creating industry."
