AUSTIN – Today the Texas Water Development Board voted 3-0 to keep the environmentally destructive Marvin Nichols Reservoir in the Region C water plan. The decision came after a public comment period last year in which 99 per cent of commenters expressed opposition to the project. Environment Texas Director Luke Metzger released the following statement:

“Today’s vote by TWDB is very disappointing. This project makes no sense – its not needed, the public opposes it, and it would cause significant harm to our state’s forests and waterways. Conservation efforts are already driving down demand for water in Dallas Fort Worth and with continued commitment, Texas can be smarter about using our precious water supplies.”
