AUSTIN – Today the Texas Senate approved SB 931 to end the state’s renewable electricity standard.

“It’s a big mistake to end the renewable energy program,” said Luke Metzger, Director of Environment Texas. “The Senate voted to pull the rug out from under the wind and solar industries just as they’re taking off and helping our environment and economy. They are unfairly targeting wind and solar even as the vast majority of state subsidies go to fossil fuels. This is bad policy and will bite us in the rear when we’re looking for ways to comply with new federal environmental standards.”
